LUCICADA
When Nothing Is Visible, Everything Matters
LUCICADA is not a design that appeared all at once.
It is the result of more than six months of focused development and nearly ten internal structural revisions—each one aimed at removing, refining, and rethinking what truly needs to remain.
This project did not begin with a shape.
It began with a question: How far can a folding knife be simplified—without compromising function, integrity, or presence?
A Fully Concealed Architecture
One of the core challenges of LUCICADA was achieving a fully concealed structure.
No visible screws.
No exposed pivot.
No external button.
Every mechanical element—lock, pivot, fasteners, internal supports—is hidden beneath the surface. What the user sees is only form, proportion, and balance.
This level of concealment demanded repeated internal redesigns. Each adjustment affected tolerances, blade travel, lock engagement, and long-term wear. Every revision required disassembly, re-machining, re-polishing, and re-evaluation.
Nothing here is accidental.
Inside LUCICADA, more than a dozen precision components are organized within an extremely confined space. Achieving smooth, reliable action while maintaining structural rigidity required not only engineering discipline, but patience.
Mirror polishing amplified the difficulty.
A mirror surface reveals everything—every transition, every curve, every misalignment. It leaves no room for correction through texture or finish.
Form Inspired by Motion
The design of LUCICADA draws from multiple influences, without directly imitating any single reference.
It expresses a sense of speed and flow, reminiscent of luxury marine design, while incorporating precise aerospace geometries.
From certain angles, the handle carries a rhythmic quality similar to cicada wings — layered, fluid, and alive.
As these elements converge, the form begins to suggest something more instinctive.
Some see a shield in the handle, and a sword in the blade — a balance between restraint and resolve.
The result is a form that feels both mechanical and organic, controlled yet expressive, where precision serves intention rather than decoration.

Designed and Made Without Distance
LUCICADA was designed, programmed, machined, polished, and assembled within the same small workshop. There was no separation between design and production, no handoff between departments.
Every decision—down to a fraction of a millimeter—was made with direct feedback from the material and the mechanism itself.
This closeness is not scalable.
But it is honest.

LUCICADA exists not to chase volume, but to explore what is possible when time is allowed to do its work.
An Ongoing Process
This first sample does not represent an end point.
It represents a moment of alignment—where form, function, and intention finally reached balance.
Further refinements will follow. But the philosophy will remain unchanged:
Remove what does not need to be seen.
Let precision speak quietly.
Allow time to shape the result.
